Shortlisted: UKJA Responsible Jewellery Business Award 2026

We are proud to share that Weston Beamor Group has been shortlisted for the Responsible Jewellery Business Award at the UK Jewellery Awards 2026.

Responsible business has been part of how we operate for a long time. This award felt like the right opportunity to talk about it.

Being shortlisted is a recognition we are grateful for. More than that, it is a prompt to reflect on what this work actually means in practice, for the people who make our products, the retailers who stock them, and the customers who wear them.

It Starts with our People

Every decision we make about how we source, manufacture, and operate connects back to people. The miners and suppliers at the start of our supply chain, the craftspeople on our factory floor, the retailers who trust us with their business, and the customers wearing what we make. How we treat all of them is what responsible business actually means.

That means investing in our team properly: in their development, their wellbeing, and their progression. It means creating an environment where people feel valued and have real opportunities to grow. We have put significant effort into our leadership and training programmes in recent years, because responsible practice only sticks when the people inside the business own it. A policy document does not do that work on its own.

It also means thinking about the next generation coming into this industry. We work with schools, colleges, and universities to offer pathways into jewellery manufacturing, particularly for young people from backgrounds where those doors do not always open easily. The Jewellery Quarter has a long history worth protecting and passing on, and we feel a responsibility to play our part in that.

Where Things Come from Matters

The jewellery industry has not always asked hard enough questions about provenance. We think that is changing, and we want to be part of the reason it changes.

We have spent years building the supply chain relationships and internal systems that allow us to stand behind the materials we use. That means knowing where our metals and gemstones originate, requiring documentation that goes beyond a supplier's word, and holding our partners to standards that reflect our own. When gaps appear, we would rather work through them with a supplier than simply find a new one. That takes longer. We think it is the right approach.

For the retailers who source from us, this matters practically. Your customers are increasingly curious about the story behind what they buy. Being able to speak with confidence about provenance and ethics is a real part of what you are offering them, and we want to make that easier for you.

The Environment is Not an Afterthought

We are a manufacturer. That means we use energy, generate waste, and leave a footprint. We are not going to pretend otherwise.

Reducing that footprint has required real investment: in our infrastructure, in how we handle materials, in the targets we set and report against. It is ongoing work, not a project we have closed off. We keep going because the alternative is not acceptable to us.

Sustainability also shapes how we think about the products themselves. Jewellery that is made well and lasts is inherently more sustainable than jewellery that is not. Quality and longevity matter commercially, but they are also the most straightforward contribution a manufacturer can make to reducing consumption.

Community is Part of Who We Are

We are rooted in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. That connection shapes how we think about our responsibilities beyond the business itself: to the industry, to the next generation coming into it, and to the place we have called home for over 75 years.

The relationships we have built with local institutions and trade bodies have developed over a long time, and they matter to us. A business of our size and history has a role to play in the wider industry, and we take that seriously. Not every impact shows up in an audit report.

Responsible business is harder to measure than responsible-sounding language. We would rather focus on the former and let the latter take care of itself.

What happens next

The UK Jewellery Awards take place later this year. We will share the result when it is announced, and we are looking forward to being in the room with others in the industry doing this kind of work.

If you would like to know more about our approach to responsible sourcing and manufacturing, speak to the team or contact us directly. There is more to the story than fits in a blog post.
